To a solution of tert-butyl N-[(1S,2S)-2-{[5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazin-2-yl]amino}cyclopentyl]carbamate (11.61 g, 33.5 mmol) in DCM (70 ml) and acetonitrile (35 ml) at 0° C. under was added 1-bromopyrrolidine-2,5-dione (12.53 g, 70.4 mmol). The reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 20 hours. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and then purified by column chromatography (silica, 0-50% ethyl acetate/petrol) to afford the title compound.
