Reaction Steps

A mixture of (3,4-dichlorophenyl)boronic acid (500 mg, 2.62 mmol), 2-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-ene (501 mg, 2.88 mmol), K2CO3 (723 mg, 5.24 mmol) and Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 (36 mg, 0.052 mmol) in THF (2 mL) and H2O (1 mL) was heated at 80° C. in a sealed tube for 3 hours. The mixture was cooled to rt and partitioned between EA (20 mL) and H2O (20 mL). The aqueous layer was extracted with EA (20 mL) and the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the crude product was purified by column chromatography over silica gel eluted with PE to give 1,2-dichloro-4-(3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-en-2-yl)-benzene (400 mg, 63.3% yield) as colorless oil.
