Procedure

A 10 mL vial, equipped with a magnetic stirrer, was charged with N6-methyl-N6-(2-phenylethyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline-3,6-diamine (79 mg, 0.281 mmol), 2,2,6-trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one (48 mg, 0.337 mmol), and toluene (3 mL). The vial was sealed and heated in a microwave reactor at 120° C. for 30 min. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (0 to 100% acetone in hexanes) to give the title compound (73 mg, 71%). MS [M+H]+=366.2 m/z.
