5-Methyl-7-morpholin-4-yl-2-(2-quinolin-2-yl-ethyl)-5H-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine-1,3,6-trione (0.7 g, 1.67 mmol, see Example 1) was dissolved in toluene (20 ml), stirred and heated to 120° C. and Lawesson's reagent (0.338 g, 0.836 mmol) was added. The reaction was stirred at 120° C. for 16 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to r.t., filtered though a pad of silica gel and concentrated to afford the crude title compound (0.65 g, 77% yield), which was used in the next steps without further purification.
