Reaction Steps

To a solution of (6-(dimethylamino)-5-methylpyrimidin-4-yl)methanol (24) (0.1 g, 0.60 mmol) in DCM was added thionyl chloride (0.14 g, 1.1961 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 4 h at RT. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to afford 6-(Chloromethyl)-N,N,5-trimethylpyrimidin-4-amine (25) as a white solid; 0.1 g 90.9%).
