Reaction Steps
To a cooled solution of 209 mg (0.5 mmol) 2-Ethylsulfanyl-N-[(4-fluoro-2-methoxy-phenyl)-methyl]-4-methyl-6-morpholin-4-yl-pyridine-3-carboxylic acid amide (example 17) in DCM (7 ml) were added dropwise 5 ml (5.0 mmol, 1M in DCM) BBr3 at −50° C. The RM was then allowed to reach 0° C. and stirring was continued at this temperature for 3 h. Then a 1M aq. NaHCO3 sol. (15 ml) was added at 0° C. and the mixture was diluted with MeOH (10 ml) and DCM (10 ml). The layers were separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo. Purification of the residue by CC (hexane/EtOAc 7:3) provided 81 mg (0.2 mmol, 40%) 2-Ethylsulfanyl-N-[(4-fluoro-2-hydroxy-phenyl)-methyl]-4-methyl-6-morpholin-4-yl-pyridine-3-carboxylic acid amide (example 18).
