Reaction Steps
287 mg (0.9 mmol) of tert-butyl 8,8-dimethyl-3,4,7,8-tetrahydro-1H-[1,4]diazepino[6,7,1-ij]quinoline-2(6H)-carboxylate of step 1.3 were dissolved in 5 mL of dichloromethane and treated with 2.5 mL of trifluoroacetic acid. The mixture was stirred over night at room temperature and then extracted once with water (10 mL). The organic phase was then extracted twice with a diluted solution of sodium hydroxide (10 mL each), dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica (eluent: 10-30% methanol in dichloromethane) to yield 141 mg of the title compound as a yellow oil.
