Reaction Steps
A mixture of 12 parts of intermediate 40, namely 1-[2-methyl-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-propyl]-1H-imidazole, and 79 parts of methanol was hydrogenated for 1 hour at room temperature and 2.105Pa with 3 parts of Raney nickel. The catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate was evaporated, yielding 12 parts (100%) of 4-[1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-2-methylpropyl]benzenamine (interm. 41).
