4-methoxy-4-(3-hydroxy-trans-prop-1-enyl)tetrahydropyran, prepared as in step 4, was convened to the corresponding mesylate according to the methodof Crossland and Servis, J. Org. Chem., 35, 3195-3196 (1970).
