Procedure

The addition of 2 parts methanol to 1 part 2-isopropenyl-4,4,5-trimethyl-1-aza-3-oxa-4-silacyclohex-1-ene resulted inthe instantaneous evolution of heat and completion of the reaction. Removalof methanol by stirring the reaction mixture in a vacuum for 1 hour at roomtemperature yielded the essentially pure methanol adduct, N-[2-(dimethylmethoxysilyl)propyl]methacrylamide.
