Reaction Steps
0.75 g of 3,4-diacetoxy-5-nitrobenzoic acid was converted to the corresponding acid chloride as described in Example 43. It was dissolved in 5 ml of dichloromethane and added to a solution containig 0.27 ml of benzylamine and 0.5 ml of 2,6-lutidine in 7 ml of dichloromethane. Yield 0.95 g (96%), a viscous oil.
