Reaction Steps
Alcohol 24 (2.98 g, 6.48 mmol) was dissolved in 50 ml of methylene chlorideat 25° C. and 2,6-lutidine (1.51 ml, 2.0 equiv) was added. t-Butyldimethylsilyl triflate (2.23 ml, 1.5 equiv) was added and the mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 10-15 min. The solution was poured in 40 ml of saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution and extracted with 2×200 ml of methylene chloride. The combined organic phases were dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give4.0 g of the bis-t-butyldimethylsilyl ether 25 as an oil. This material washomogeneous by 1H and 13C NMR and was used directly in the subsequent transformation.
