Procedure
To a solution of thus obtained ethyl 2-(2-oxo-1,3-dithiol-4-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetate (anti isomer, 1.7 g.) in ethanol (20 ml.) was added dropwise a solution of sodium carbonate 10 hydrate (2.2 g.) in water (10 ml.) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. After removing ethanol from the resultant solution in vacuo, the residue was acidified with hydrochloric acid and extracted with diethyl ether. The extract was washed with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride, dried over magnesium sulfate, and concentrated in vacuo to give oily product The oil was allowed to stand in a refrigerator to give 2-(2-oxo-1,3-dithiol-4-yl)-2-methoxyiminoacetic acid (anti isomer, 0.75 g.).
