A 2.1 g. portion of 1,1-diphenyl-2-propanone is converted to 1-bromo-3,3-diphenyl-2-propanone as described in Example 22. This 1-bromo-3,3-diphenyl-2-propanone is dissolved in 15 ml. of acetone and added to a boiling mixture of 1.0 g. of tetrahydro-5,5-dimethyl-2(1H)-pyrimidinethione in 50 ml. of acetone. The mixture is allowed to stand at room temperature for 24 hours and the resulting solid is collected by filtration, giving the desired product, m.p. 259°-261° C.
