Reaction Steps
Acetyl chloride (1.5 mL, 21.1 mmol) was added slowly to a solution of tert-butyldimethylsilyl 3-O-acetyl-2-azido-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranoside (7.25 g, 20 mmol) in 2,4,6-collidine (47 mL) under nitrogen at −40° C. After stirring at −40° C. overnight, water was added. The mixture was poured into EtOAc and extracted with 1 N HCl, brine and saturated NaHCO3. The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and the solvents were removed in vacuo. Flash chromatography on silica gel (Hexanes:EtOAc 5:1→4:1) afforded 7 (7.59 g, 18.8 mmol, 94%) as a colorless solid.
