Procedure

In 5 ml of water was dissolved 0.57 g of (2S,3aS,7aS)-1-(N2 -nicotinoyl-L-lysyl-gamma-D-glutamyl)octahydro-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid (see Example 15), and 1 ml of 1N-NaOH was added. The resulting aqueous solution was subjected to CHP20P column chromatography (0%→20% acetonitrile/water gradient). Fractions containing the desired product were concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue was lyophilized to give 0.25 g of the captioned compound. [α]D26 : -24.6° (H2O).
