Reaction Steps

To a solution of N-hydroxyphthalimide (2.0 g) and 1,3-dibromopropane (2.49 ml) in 50 ml of dry CH3CN was added diisorpopylethylamine (4.27 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature. After 4 hours the volatiles were removed in vacuo. The residue was triturated with Et2O to provide 2.53 g of while solid, homogeneous by TLC.
