To a solution of 8-(2-t-butoxycarbonylamino-acetamido-6-methylbenzyloxy)-2-methyl-3-(2-propynyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine (435 mg) in ethanol (2 ml) was added 25% ethanolic hydrogen chloride (0.53 ml) with ice-cooling. After being stirred for 3 hours with ice-cooling, the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. To the residue was added a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydogen carbonate and the aqueous layer was extracted with chloroform. The extract was washed with a water and dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was distilled off and the residue was triturated with diethyl ether to give 8-(2-aminoacetamido- 6-methylbenzyloxy)-2-methyl-3-(2-propynyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine (215 mg).
