Procedure
A solution of 2-fluoro-5-nitrophenylhydrazine (53.95 g) in ethyl 2-cyclohexanonecarboxylate (53.65 g) was heated under reflux for 4 hours. After cooling, the reaction mixture was poured into ice-water. The precipitated crystals were collected by filtration, washed with water add hexane and dried to obtain 2-(2-fluoro-5-nitrophenyl)-1,2,4,5,6,7-hexahydro-3H-indazol-3-one. m.p., 220.0° C.
