A mixture of 2.3 g of the product of Step A, 25 ml of toluene and 250 mg of p-toluene sulfonic acid was refluxed for 15 minutes and was cooled. The mixture was stirred for 2 hours at 0° to 5° C. and was filtered. The filtrate was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 1.8 g of (1R, cis, ΔZ) 2,2-dimethyl-3-(3-cyclobutoxy-3-oxo-1-propenyl)-cyclopropane-carboxylic acid.
