A solution of 2',3'-dideoxy-2',3'-didehydrouridine (1.0 g, 4.8 mmol) in methanol (10 ml) containing a catalyst (wet 5% palladium on carbon) (400 mg) was stirred in an atmosphere of hydrogen for 1 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was chromatographed on silica gel (CHCl3 /MeOH=5/1) to give
