Procedure

10.0 g of N-(5,6-dihydro-5-oxopyrazolo[1,5-c]quinazolin-2-yl)acetamide is suspended in 973 ml of 10% ethanolic potassium hydroxide and refluxed for 3 hours. The reaction mixture is concentrated, cooled to room temperature, diluted with water and neutralized with acetic acid. The product is filtered off and dried.
