Procedure

A mixture of 9.0 g. of 3-chloro-6-(p-chlorophenyl)pyridazine (prepared as in Example 16), 7.4 g. of propionic acid hydrazide and 60 ml. of butyl alcohol is stirred at reflux temperature for 48 hours. The mixture is chilled, filtered and the solid is washed with petroleum ether and with water. The material is recrystallized from 50 ml. of ethyl alcohol to afford the product of the example as crystals, m.p. 197°-199° C.
