Procedure
As described in Example 35, 2-chloro-5-methylbenzaldehyde is reacted with morpholine and potassium cyanide to give γ-(2-chloro-5-methylphenyl)-4-morpholineacetonitrile. In a similar manner as described in Example 35, the preceding compound is converted to 3-chloro-6-(2-chloro-5-methylphenyl)pyridazine which is reacted with acetic acid hydrazide in refluxing n-butanol for 24 hours to give the product of the example.
