The title compound was prepared from 3-methoxyphenol and 2-cyano-3-(3,5-dimethoxy-phenyl)-acrylic acid ethyl ester by a procedure similar to that described for Example 1 in 4.2% yield. 1H NMR (CDCl3): 7.36 (d, J=9.0, 1H), 6.89-6.83 (m, 2H), 6.65-6.63 (m, 1H), 6.55-6.54 (m, 2H), 3.93 (s, 3H), 3.85 (s, 6H).
