Procedure

Using 2-acetamido-N-benzyl-2-ethoxyacetamide (2.00 g, 8.0 mmol), BF3.Et2O (2.72 g, 19.2 mmol) and EtSH (2.38 g, 38.4 mmol) gave an aqueous reaction mixture. The solution was extracted with CHCl3 (3×100 mL). The combined CHCl3 layers were dried (Na2SO4), and then concentrated in vacuo to give the desired product as white solid.
