Under argon and with stirring, 2.25 g (8.02 mmol) of the compound obtained in Step A are dissolved in 30 cm3 of methanol. 4.5 cm3 of a 10% potassium hydroxide solution are added dropwise. After 2 hours at room temperature, the methanol is evaporated off. The residue is acidified very slowly with a 2N hydrochloric acid solution. The resulting precipitate is extracted with CH2Cl2 and dried over MgSO4. 1.94 g of a white solid are recovered.
