A solution of benzyl 4-((1,4,7,10-tetraoxacyclododecan-2-yl)methylsulfonyl)-2-methylbutan-2-ylcarbamate (120.8 mg, 0.255 mmol) in methanol (1 ml) was put under N2, and 10% palladium on carbon (30 mg) was added. The vessel was purged with hydrogen (1.3 atmospheres) and the suspension stirred for 3.5 hours. The suspension was filtered through a polytetrafluoroethylene filter (0.45 um), and the filtrate concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a clear oil (quantitative); LRMS (ESI/APCI) m/z 340 [M]+.
