Followed the coupling procedure described for Example 1, starting from 1-bromo-6-methoxynaphthalen-2-yl trifluoromethanesulfonate (Intermediate 2) and 4-(methoxycarbonyl)phenylboronic acid with modifications: the base used was Na2CO3, the solvent was toluene/EtOH (4/1), and the reaction was heated to 80° C. for 3 h. The crude product was purified by silica gel column (PE/EtOAc=300/1 to 100/1), then washed with EtOAc (10 mL×5) to give the product (980 mg, yield 45%) as a white solid.
