Procedure

A solution of 2-[(4-[[4-nitro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino]cyclohexyl)oxy]acetamide (220 mg, 0.61 mmol) in borane/THF (1M, 10 ml) was stirred for 10 minutes at 70° C. in an oil bath. The solution was quenched by the addition of aqueous hydrogen chloride (2 ml of a 1M solution), diluted with water (15 ml), and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×15 ml). The aqueous layer was adjusted to pH˜8 with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and extracted further with dichloromethane (3×20 ml). The organic layers were combined and concentrated under vacuum to afford N-[4-(2-aminoethoxy)cyclohexyl]-4-nitro-3-(trifluoromethyl)aniline as yellow oil (180 mg, 85%). (ES, m/z) [M+H]+ 348; 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO): δ 8.06 (d, J=Hz, 1H), 7.47 (d, J=7.8 Hz, 1H), 7.07 (s, 1H), 6.84 (dd, J=2.7 Hz, 7.8 Hz, 1H), 3.39-3.55 (m, 6H), 2.65-2.70 (t, J=5.7 Hz, 2H), 1.90-2.10 (m, 4H), 1.15-1.40 (m, 4H).
