To a solution of 3-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-amine (617 mg, 3 mmol) in pyridine (6 mL) was added acetic anhydride (425 μl, 4.5 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, gradient 0 to 100% ethyl acetate/isohexane) yielding N-(3-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)acetamide as a solid (526 mg).
