Morpholine (950 μL, 0.011 mmol) was added slowly to solution of 9-methoxythiazolo[5,4-c]isoquinolin-5(4H)-one in 2.6 mL of 37% aqueous formaldehyde and the resulting reaction mixture was refluxed for 7 hours. The reaction was monitored by TLC until all starting material was consumed. After cooling to room temperature, the reaction mixture was partitioned between water and ethyl acetate, the organics were separated, washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4 and solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to produce the title compound as a pale solid.
