Reaction Steps

To a stirred solution of 3-methylcyclobutanamine hydrochloride (0.100 g, 0.8 mmol) in pyridine (1 mL) was added methanesulfonyl chloride (0.095 mL, 1.2 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hrs. The mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with 2 N aqueous hydrochloric acid, saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate, saturated aqueous sodium chloride, dried (anhydrous sodium sulfate), filtered, and concentrated to afford the product as a brown solid (0.125 g, 93%). The material was used without further purification.
