Reaction Steps

To a solution of crude methyl 2-(4-(cyclopropylmethoxy)-3-nitrophenyl)acetate (theoric 4.74 mmol) in MeOH (50 ml), a catalytic amount of PtO2 was added and the mixture was hydrogenated in a Parr apparatus at 30 psi for 15 minutes. The catalyst was filtered off, and the solvent was removed to give crude methyl 2-(3-amino-4-(cyclopropylmethoxy)phenyl)acetate (1.2 g, yield considered to be quantitative, MS/ESI+ 236.0 [MH]+). This crude was used without any additional purification.
