Reaction Steps
5-formyl-2-methoxyphenyl methanesulfonate (3.3 g, 14 mmol) was dissolved in acetic acid (50 ml) and sulfamic acid (500 mg, 5.15 mmol) was added. Sodium chlorite (3 g, 33.2 mmol) was dissolved in H2O (20 ml) and added dropwise. The reaction was stirred at RT overnight, then the precipitate was filtered and washed with HCl 1 M, MeOH and dried in the vacuum oven, to give 3.4 g of the desired product (Yield: 99%).
