N-Boc-ethanolamine (2.10 g; 13.0 mmol), 4-Bromobutyric acid (2.18 g; 13.0 mmol) and N,N-dimethylaminopyridine (0.318 g; 2.60 mmol) were dissolved in CH2Cl2 (35 mL) and the mixture was cooled to 0° C.; EDAC (3.75 g; 13.6 mmol) was added and the reaction was slowly warmed to room temperature and stirred for 18 hours. Then the mixture was diluted with CH2Cl2, washed with aqueous Na2HPO4 (5%, 2×50 ml) aqueous NaH2PO4, (5%, 2×50 ml) and brine (1×40 ml). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure.
