To a solution of (S)-2-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (2.2 g, 0.012 mol) in EtOH (30 mL), NH3 was bubbled to the solution under −78° C. The reaction mixture was then sealed and heated at 80° C. for 3 h. After LCMS indicated completion of the reaction, the mixture was concentrated and the crude product was used in next step without further purification (2.2 g, Yield 90%). LCMS (m/z): 207.1 (M+1).
