Into a 100-mL round-bottom flask, was placed methyl 3-[[4-([6-[bis(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-2-hydroxyquinolin-4-yl]amino)piperidin-1-yl]methyl]benzoate (80 mg, 0.13 mmol, 1.00 equip), methanol (20 mL), and 1M sodium hydroxide (20 mL). The resulting solution was stirred overnight at 30° C. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The pH value of the solution was adjusted to 5-6 with 10% HCl. The solids were collected by filtration to yield 3-[[4-([6-[bis(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-2-hydroxyquinolin-4-yl]amino)piperidin-1-yl]methyl]benzoic acid as a white solid.
