To a solution of tert-butyl 4-(6-(bis(4-chlorophenyl)methyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinolin-4-yl)-5,6-dihydropyridine-1(2H)-carboxylate (80 mg, 0.142 mmol) in DCM (1 mL) was added TFA (0.35 mL) and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hr. The reaction was concentrated and dried under the high vacuum to yield 6-(bis(4-chlorophenyl)methyl)-4-(1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridin-4-yl)quinolin-2(1H)-one, which was used in the next step without further purification.
