Procedure

A mixture of 9-benzyl-7-hydroxymethyl-3-oxa-9-aza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-7-ol (Compound V) (0.080 g, 0.30 mmol) and Pd/C (20 mg) in MeOH (2 mL) was stirred under H2 at room temperature overnight. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to give Compound S (0.040 g, 77.0%). LC/MS: calc'd 174 (MH+), exp 174 (MH+).
