Reaction Steps
Ethyl 8-chlorosulfonyl-octanoate (No. 6804260; 692.3 mg, 2.56 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (4.0 mL), and a solution of hexylamine (310.5 mg, 3.07 mmol) in dichloromethane (3.0 mL) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (668 μL, 3.84 mmol) were added in order. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 22 hours. After completing the reaction, the mixture was neutralized by adding 1 M hydrochloric acid, and extracted with dichloromethane. The organic layer was washed with water and a saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and filtered. The solvent was distilled off. The resulting residue was then purified with SP1 (SiO2 cartridge, 25% ethyl acetate/n-hexane, Rf=0.5) to obtain ethyl 8-hexylsulfamoyl-octanoate (No. 6804262; 818.3 mg, 95% yield).
