Reaction Steps

To a solution of 5-bromo-6-chloro-3-(1-BOC-2-(S)-azetidinylmethoxy)pyridine from Example 66a (470 mg, 1.25 mmol) in acetonitrile (6.2 mL) was added 4-vinylpyridine (0.17 mL, 1.57 mmol), palladium acetate (26.0 mg, 0.11 mmol), tri-o-tolylphosphine (130 mg, 0.1 mmol) and triethylamine (2.6 mL). The reaction mixture was heated at reflux overnight, then cooled to room temperature. The solvent was removed, and the residue was chromatographed on a silica gel column, eluting with ethyl acetate:hexane 1:1 to 3:1 to afford the title compound (176 mg, 35% yield). MS (CI/NH3) m/z 402 (M+H)+. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz) δ1.42 (s, 9H), 2.27-2.43 (m, 2H), 3.86-3.95 (m, 2H), 4.27-4.24 (m, 1H), 4.36-4.67 (m, 1H), 4.50-4.60 (m, 1H), 7.07 (d, J=11, 1H), 7.41-7.47 (m, 4H), 7.57 (d, J=11, 1H), 7.58-7.65 (m, 1H), 8.09 (d, J=2, 1H), 8.61-8.68 (m, 2H).
