Procedure
4-Chloro-N-(4-cyano-2-fluoro-benzyl)-N-((R)-5,5-difluoro-2-oxo-azepan-3-yl)-benzenesulfonamide (0.23 g, 0.49 mmol) was suspended in dry ethanol (10 ml) and cooled to 0° C. Dry HCl gas was gently bubbled over 30 min into this suspension. The light red reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 h. A clear yellow solution resulted which was concentrated under reduced pressure and the crude was used directly in the next step: 0.28 g; MS: m/e=516.2 (MH−).
