To a stirred solution of 0.20 g of (3-amino-5-bromo-phenyl)-pyridin-3-yl-methanone (0.72 mmol) in 5 mL of dichloroethane was added 0.58 mL of pyridine and 0.55 mL of methylchloroformate, and the mixture was heated to 60° C. for 20 minutes. The reaction was diluted with dichloromethane and washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate, dried over NaSO4 and the volatiles were removed under reduced pressure to give 208 mg (86% yield) of [3-bromo-5-(pyridine-3-carbonyl)-phenyl]-carbamic acid methyl ester.
