To a solution of N-(3-(4-isopropylphenyl)-4,6-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl)-3,3-dimethylbutanamide (1.0 g, 2.63 mmol) obtained in Example 3 in acetonitrile (30 mL) was added N-bromosuccinimide (468 mg, 2.63 mmol) at 0° C. and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Water was added to the reaction solution, the organic layer was separated, and the aqueous layer was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with water, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was recrystallized from ethanol to obtain 1.10 g (yield: 91%) of the title compound. Melting point: 191-193° C.
