Procedure

A solution of N-(7-(hydroxy(phenyl)methyl)-3-(4-isopropylphenyl)-4,6-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl)-3,3-dimethylbutanamide (512 mg, 1.05 mmol) obtained in Example 94 and 10% palladium on carbon (water content: 50%, 50 mg) in acetic acid (20 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 1.5 hours under hydrogen atmosphere. The catalyst was removed and the reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure. Water was added to the residue and the product was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with an aqueous saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution and water, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was recrystallized from hexane-ethyl acetate to obtain 330 mg (yield: 67%) of the title compound. Melting point: 153-154° C.
