Procedure
(S)-[3-(Acetylthio)-2-methyl 1-oxopropyl]-L-prolyl-D-alanine methyl ester (4 g) is taken into potassium hydroxide/aqueous methanol (3 g of potassium hydroxide in 14 ml of water and 70 ml of methanol) and the solution is kept at room temperature for 2 hours. The product (2.1 g) is isolated using the procedure described in Example 9.
