Procedure

cis-2,3-Dihydro-1-methyl-1H-indene-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester is prepared from cis-2,3-dihydro-1-methyl-1H-indene-2-carboxylic acid (see Example 4) by the standard methods using methanol and concentrated sulphuric acid. Yield 91%.
