1-[1-(4-Fluorophenethyl)piperidin-4-yl]-6-acetamidomethylindoline (7.5 g) obtained in Example 133 was dissolved in acetone (500 ml) at 50° C. To the resultant solution was added active manganese dioxide (35.6 g) in portions under stirring. The resulting suspension was heated under reflux for 1.5 hr, then filtered through celite and washed with acetone. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure and the resulting pale yellow solid was recrystallized from ethyl acetate to give the title compound (4.2 g) as awhite powder (yield: 56%).
