A mixture of 3-(4-piperidinyl)-1H indazole (3.2 g, 0.016 mol), 1-[4-(4-bromobutoxy)-3-methoxyphenyl]ethanone (5.0 g, 0.016 mol) K2CO3 (2.2) and acetonitrile (100 ml) was stirred and refluxed for 6hours. The reaction was poured into water and the resulting yellow solid that formed was collected to afford 5.3 g of product. The compound was recrystallized from acetonitrile and then from ethyl acetate to yield 3.0 g (45%) of a slightly yellow solid of 1-[4-[4-[4-(1H-indazol-3-yl)-1-piperidiyl]butoxy]-3-methoxyphenyl]ethanone, m.p.=133°-135° C.
